Contrary to proliferating media reports and statements by American
officials, the momentum on the ground continues to shift away from Assad. For, while
loyalist troops carry out sweep operations in Homs and Idlib, they are losing
control of Aleppo, Hassakeh, Raqqah and Deraa. Meanwhile, the signs of an
impending showdown in Damascus are there for all those willing to see.

“Another lesson from the Balkans: Nothing worked
until the United States stepped in with its military power.”
Dear American Lawmakers,
Let me see
if I got this right:
1) An
American citizen can be fair game for targeted-killing but known sponsors of
terror networks who are not American citizens and are in fact avowed enemies of
America, like, shall we say, the Assads, cannot?
2) The
Responsibility to Protect is applicable only when the challenge is relatively
easy, but when the task is complex, it somehow loses relevance? In other words,
it’s all right to intervene to stop a madman running loose in the neighborhood,
but when there are armed gangs the responsibility to protect can be neglected
and intervention is considered wrong, because things could turn messy?
Dear Leaders of the Free World,
On behalf
of the Syrian people, let me thank you for your silent duplicity and
duplicitous diplomacy.
