As Assads take back Syria, one neighborhood and one
town at a time, opposition groups continue to wrangle over seats in a stillborn
council, as the world considers options that have no bearing on reality.

12 protesters were
killed on a day marked for showing solidarity with detained blogger Tal
Al-Mallouhi, who has disappeared into the Assad prison system 2 years ago. 7 of
the killed fell in the neighborhood of Khaldiyeh in Homs City

city: the
way continues in Bab Al-Sibaa. Here we see a tank firing randomly into

Meanwhile, spokesman for the Free Syrian Army issued a warning to all
protesters and citizens to stay in their homes throughout Wednesday October 12,
as they plan to carry monitoring operations against key members of the regime,
also because the regime itself is said to be planning explosions to target
loyalist demonstrations scheduled for tomorrow to support its story of armed
gangs http://youtu.be/vjOw0wyQbcg In Bayadah,
loyalist militias patrolled the neighborhood and carried a number of arrests http://youtu.be/TQ74Nufcp1k But in Bab
Al-Sibaa, members of the Free Syrian Army arrested this sniper and taped
his confessions in which he admitted to taking part to target protesters and fire
indiscriminately into residential. Regardless of the veracity of these
statements, the incident further highlights the daily realities with which locals
have to contend http://youtu.be/t69y9UJJvS8

in the evening, people throughout the city still took to the streets to demonstrate

Congressman Chabot Issues Statement on Recent
Syrian Incursions into Lebanon
October 11, 2011
Washington, D.C.- Chairman of the Middle East Subcommittee in
the U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Steve Chabot issued the following
statement today regarding violations of Lebanese sovereignty by Syria.
“I am extremely disturbed by recent reports of
Syrian incursions into Lebanon. One
recent incursion culminated in the death of a Lebanese farmer after Syrian
armored vehicles allegedly penetrated as far as 4 kilometers into Lebanese
territory. I condemn in the strongest
possible terms these flagrant violations of Lebanese sovereignty which are a
clear violation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1701. I also condemn once again the brutal
crackdown being perpetrated by the Assad regime. It is now estimated that over 2,900 Syrians
have been killed at the hands of the regime and reports coming out of Syria
speak of unconscionably heinous human rights abuses. Additionally, I am gratified that the U.S.
Ambassador to Lebanon explicitly emphasized the importance the U.S. places on
Lebanon’s responsibility to protect members of the Syrian opposition residing
in Lebanon. This, along with the support
for and funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, are key Lebanese
international legal obligations.”
